Hello. I believe in God, and believe that living in communion with him is life in all its fullness. Seeking to become aware of the presence of God is our highest aim. If we can attain this, then everything else in life will fall into place, and we will find our fulfilment – both in this life, and the life to come.
I am a Christian, and have been my whole life, so much of what I write will be within the context of a Christian understanding. However, I am very happy to accept that all the major religions of the world (and probably the smaller too – I’ve just not looked at them all) are valid paths to life with God. For the latter half of my working life, I have been a teacher of Religious Studies at a secondary school, and I spent the first half working as a Methodist Minister, serving in churches in 3 different localities. I still am a Methodist Minister – but clearly haven’t been able to look after churches while doing full-time teaching. My favourite aspect of teaching was teaching philosophy, and I sum up philosophy as the search for truth.
I am now retired and, as I’ve spent my whole life saying, “Of course, what I’d really like to do is be a writer”, so I thought I would try now to share some of my thoughts. I simply hope that others will find them helpful. The very nature of the subject matter means that what I write is an exploration, as we grow in understanding and experience, and reflect on our lives.
On a technical note, I aim to improve the capabilities of the blog as I become more expert. For now, I have tried to categorise posts into 3 categories: God, Faith, and Prayer and Devotion, though exploring one topic is very likely to tip over into the others.
